It knows you're
in the room.
Even sitting still.

The Rockloop Wave is a 24 GHz mmWave presence sensor that keeps the lights, heat, and automations on while you're reading, working, or watching TV — not just while you're waving your arms at a motion sensor.

Try the difference

Motion sensors go blind.
The Wave doesn't.

A PIR motion sensor only sees movement. Sit down with a book and, to your smart home, you vanish — lights out mid-chapter. mmWave radar sees the micro-movement of breathing, so presence stays true.

🪑
You, sitting perfectly still, reading
No waving. No getting up. Just sitting there.
● PRESENCE: DETECTED — lights stay on

The Wave's 24 GHz radar picks up breathing and micro-movement up to ~6 m away. Reading, desk work, TV on the couch, a sleeping baby — presence stays occupied the whole time, and your automations behave.

What's inside

More sensor. Less everything else.

📡

Still-person detection

24 GHz mmWave radar (HLK-LD2410C) senses presence — not just motion — including people seated, working, or asleep.

🏠

Native Home Assistant

Built on ESPHome and an ESP32-C3. It appears in Home Assistant as a proper local device — no vendor app in the middle.

🔌

No hub, no bridge

Wi-Fi direct to your network. The $24 “cheap” rivals quietly need a Zigbee coordinator before they do anything.

🔒

Fully local & private

No account, no cloud round-trip, no data leaving your house. It keeps working when your internet doesn't.

💡

Light-aware automations

Presence plus ambient context for the automations people actually want: lights that stay, HVAC that knows, alerts that matter.

🎛️

Room presets, not spreadsheets

At launch, pick a preset in Home Assistant — Bedroom, Living Room, Office, or Pet-Friendly Home — instead of hand-tuning sensitivity numbers. Set up in minutes; fine-tune later only if you want to.

🌙

Bedroom-safe LED — fully off

Launch firmware lets you turn the status LED completely off from Home Assistant. No glow on the wall at night — check status in the app instead.

🛠️

Support from the maker

Email gets answered by the person who built the Wave — not a ticket queue. Real help with placement, presets, and automations, in plain English.

The honest comparison

Costs less. Asks for less.
Does the job the expensive ones sell.

*Noted by FP400 owners in Home Assistant community discussions, October 2026: zone and people-count data stays in the Aqara app and reaches Home Assistant with delay. The Wave exposes its data locally, in Home Assistant, from day one.

The value math is simple.

FP400 money buys you a Wave for the living room — and $26 toward a second one for the office. Same core job (knowing someone's really there), none of the ecosystem toll.

Compatibility

Runs on Home Assistant.
Shows up everywhere else.

The Wave is built for Home Assistant first — that's the hub its buyers already run. From Home Assistant, its occupancy sensor can be exposed onward to the other platforms, so you’re not locked out of the apps your household already uses.

The honest line: the Wave connects directly to Home Assistant. Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa, and SmartThings access comes through Home Assistant — the same route other maker presence sensors use. No extra Rockloop hub, account, or subscription is added.
🏠
Native · Direct

Home Assistant

Direct and native via ESPHome. The Wave appears in Home Assistant as a local device over Wi-Fi — presence, automations, dashboards, and history, with no vendor app in between.

How it connectsWi-Fi → ESPHome → Home Assistant. 100% local.
🍎
Via Home Assistant

Apple Home

Expose the Wave from Home Assistant using the built-in HomeKit Bridge and it appears in the Apple Home app as an occupancy sensor — for scenes and automations alongside your other HomeKit devices.

🎙️
Via Home Assistant

Google Home & Alexa

Share the Wave from Home Assistant to Google Home or Alexa — via Home Assistant Cloud for the one-tap route, a manual setup, or a local Matter bridge add-on — and use its occupancy in routines and voice-driven homes.

✦
Via Home Assistant

SmartThings & more

The same bridge route carries the Wave into Samsung SmartThings and other platforms that can see Home Assistant devices — useful for mixed-platform households that still want one local sensor at the source.

Roadmap — Phase 2

What about direct Matter, with no Home Assistant?

That’s a bigger product, not a settings toggle — and we won’t pretend otherwise. A direct-Matter Wave would need a second firmware built on the Matter stack and formal certification before it could connect straight to Apple, Google, Amazon, or SmartThings on its own. It’s the planned path for a future Wave, funded by launch revenue — not a launch-day promise.

For January 2027, buy the Wave for what it is: the best-value, fully local presence sensor for Home Assistant, with a clear onward path to the other platforms from there.

  • Why it takes longerESPHome doesn’t offer native Matter today, so direct Matter means maintaining separate firmware.
  • Why it costs moreReal Matter products require CSA certification and testing — thousands of dollars, not a checkbox.
  • Hardware headroomThe Wave’s ESP32 family can grow toward Matter over Wi-Fi, with a Thread-capable variant possible later.

Platform names and trademarks belong to their owners. Compatibility above describes the through–Home Assistant route available at launch; official platform certification badges will only be used if and when a future model is certified.

Presence only pays off room by room — living room + office is the classic pair. Use the packs in the pre-order card: 2-pack $99 ($49.50/unit, save $9) or 3-pack $139 (about $46.33/unit, save $23), with the same refund and ships-first terms as a single.

Questions

Before you ask

Tentative launch is January 2027. Paid pre-orders ship first — ahead of unpaid reservations, even ones placed earlier — followed by mailing-list early access, then public stock. If the date moves, pre-orders hear first — and the full-refund right runs until the day your unit ships.
People who prepay. When shipping starts, paid orders go out first, ahead of unpaid pre-orders and mailing-list reservations — even ones placed before yours. Paying is what puts you at the front of the line.
You get a full refund, any time before your unit ships. No restocking fee, no retention script. That's the deal in writing, right on this page.
Yes. You have 30 days from delivery to decide. If the Wave isn't right for your room, send it back within 30 days of delivery for a full refund — no drama, no restocking fee. Every unit is also covered against defects under normal use: if yours arrives faulty, we'll make it right with a repair, replacement, or refund.
Yes. A 2-pack is $99 — $49.50 per unit, saving $9 vs. two singles at $54 — and a 3-pack is $139 — about $46.33 per unit, saving $23 vs. three singles. Bundles follow the same rules as singles: fully refundable any time before shipping, 30-day returns after delivery, and prepaid bundles ship first under the paid-priority policy.
No. At launch, the Wave comes with named room presets in Home Assistant — Bedroom, Living Room, Office, and Pet-Friendly Home. Pick the preset for your room instead of hand-tuning sensitivity numbers. You can still fine-tune later if you want to, and the status LED can be turned fully off from Home Assistant for bedrooms.
The person who built it. Buyer support comes directly from the maker at Rockloop — real setup help in plain English, not a ticket queue or a script. If you're stuck on presets, placement, or automations, you talk to someone who knows the Wave inside out.
No hub and no account — the Wave connects over your Wi-Fi. It's built for Home Assistant (via ESPHome) because that's where presence automations shine, and that's the setup the launch supports first.
Motion sensors detect movement; the Wave detects presence. A PIR sensor thinks the room is empty while you read, type, or watch TV. The Wave's mmWave radar catches breathing-level micro-movement, so occupied stays occupied.
One product, sold direct, doing one job well — no ecosystem to subsidise, no app platform to maintain, no cloud servers in the middle. The $54 is the whole cost: no hub, no subscription, nothing after.
Yes — free unit, yours to keep, no coverage obligations. Apply in the Creators section above. In return we only ask for an honest video, whenever your schedule allows.
